CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 18, 2007 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and Jacobsen led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda, <br />and Administrative Assistant Hessman <br />3. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Dave Hettwer, Newbury Park, made reference to the General Management plan <br />for Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and stated that <br />development alternatives planned for Rancho Potrero should not conflict with it. <br />John Fonti, Thousand Oaks, stated opposition to conceptual plan to develop <br />Rancho Potrero for recreational use. <br />4. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning — Brenda Hunter, Executive <br />Director <br />Hunter thanked the Board for continued CRPD support and presented an overview <br />of the Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning (CV Nf -) with an update of <br />programs and growth over last year. Funded by First 5 Ventura County, The CV <br />Nf - is a joint project of the Conejo Valley Unified School District, Conejo <br />Recreation & Park District, the City of Thousand Oaks and the County Supervisor's <br />office. The CV Nf- is in its sixth year of operation. Its administrative offices and <br />family support programs are housed in the District owned Crowley House. <br />Hunter noted the District sponsorship of the recent Road to the Future Exotic & <br />Classic Car Show and various examples of District support including Benton as an <br />
