CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 4, 2008 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />In the absence of Chair Lange, Vice Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:30 <br />P.M. and Bryan McQueeney led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt and Jacobsen <br />Directors Absent: Lange <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl; Administrators Benton, Hare, and <br />Lewanda; and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Barbara Kloster, Thousand Oaks, President Corral 37, Equestrian Trails <br />Incorporated (ETI), distributed handouts regarding Day of the Horse, summarized <br />the planned event and invited all to attend. She expressed appreciation for the <br />District's support. <br />4. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Ride On Annual Report — Bryan McQueeney <br />McQueeney referenced the annual report, noted the fundraiser on September 27 <br />at the Ronald Reagan Library, and expressed pride in Ride On's accomplishments <br />and appreciation for the District's leadership, vision and faith in Ride On. He <br />highlighted programming accomplishments, site improvements at Walnut Grove <br />Equestrian Center, future capital projects, and volunteer opportunities. He said <br />that this year marks seven years of service to the disabled community of the <br />Conejo Valley. He spoke of the impact of the organization in the lives of riders with <br />disabilities and volunteers. <br />In response to Gibson's inquiry, McQueeney said that the sewer project is now <br />funded by CRPD and will be constructed this fiscal year. Gibson suggested that <br />facility lighting be investigated, and Berger suggested possible Rotary involvement. <br />
