Award Bid for Renovation of Dos Vientos Community Park Reservable Picnic
Area, Purchase and Installation of Fabric Shade Structure
Hare referenced documentation and provided background and bid process
information. The existing wood trellis -styled shade structure was built in 2002, and
the structure lacks sufficient sun protection. A notice to bidders was placed in the
Ventura County Star, seven interested bidders received plans, and two vendors
submitted bids — Malibu Pacific Tennis Courts, Inc with a bid of $156,900 and USA
Shade & Fabric Structures, Inc. with a bid of $124,250. The low bid meets all
required specifications and the contractor has provided shade structures for the
District in the past.
In response to Board inquiries, Hare said that the proposed shade material has an
expected life span of 25 years, and in the past it has proven to be extremely durable.
It was moved by Jacobsen, seconded by Short, and carried 4-0, with Lange not
in attendance, to award bid to USA Shade & Fabric Structures, Inc., in the
amount of $124,250, plus an approximate 10% contingency amount of $12,750,
totaling $137,000 for purchase and installation of a new fabric sail -styled shade
structure at Dos Vientos Community Park.
