CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />FEBRUARY 5, 2009 <br />4:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />SPECIAL MEETING — STRATEGIC PLAN STUDY SESSION <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 4:04 P.M. and led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, Lange, Short <br />Jacobsen arrived at 4:06 P.M. <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl; Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda; <br />Recreation Supervisor Lukes; and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />4. STUDY SESSION — STRATEGIC PLAN REVIEW, DISCUSSION AND SETTING OF <br />2009-20013 STRATEGIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br />Friedl stated that the study session is intended to be an opportunity for board members to <br />discuss their vision for the District, identify anticipated opportunities and challenges over <br />the next five years, collectively discuss and develop the District's strategic goals, identify <br />opportunities and challenges, and review the District Mission and Vision Statements. <br />Benton, Hare and Lewanda presented status reports of strategic goals for 2008, noting in - <br />process, ongoing and pending goals, relative to programs, facilities, finances, <br />partnerships, organization, administration, and public relations/marketing. <br />The meeting was recessed at 6:20 P.M. and reconvened at 6:50 P.M. <br />Board input included the following suggestions: <br />Consider and enhance environmental sustainability in all areas of operation; <br />Further use of technology for efficiency; <br />Enhance District promotion through such efforts as a blood drive at community centers; <br />Enhance relations with other jurisdictions to benefit segments of the population such as <br />seniors, teens; <br />Consider a mobile recreation resource for enhancing neighborhood recreation. <br />
