1. <br />2. <br />CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 3, 2010 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and Friedl led the flag salute. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, Lange, Short <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda, <br />Recreation Manager Lindsey, Recreation Supervisor Koval and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />COSTAC Trails Education Days Contest Winners - Elayne Haggan <br />Grand Prize Winners <br />Victoria Juan <br />Nicolas Damm <br />Sydney Bumbarger <br />Tyler Carlin <br />Tori Brandenberg <br />School <br />Cypress <br />Madrona <br />Walnut <br />Westlake Hills <br />Wildwood <br />Elayne Haggan noted the presence of Melanie Ashen, Board member of Conejo Open <br />Space Foundation, and highlighted the 2010 annual Conejo Open Space Trails Advisory <br />Committee essay/letter writing contest. She said that 1,560 students from all 18 elementary <br />schools attended the 2010 Trails Education Days' hikes and workshops, 86 volunteers <br />participated, approximately 1,000 students submitted contest entries, and five grand prize <br />winners were announced. <br />On behalf of the District, Gibson presented gifts to the attendees: Victoria Juan, Sydney <br />Bumbarger and Nicolas Damm. Haggan thanked the District for its support of COSTAC. <br />Board members commended the winners. <br />Las Flores Community Garden Presentation — Kim Aguilar, President <br />Aguilar noted the presence of Vice President Fayde Macune, thanked everyone who <br />attended the tour, invited everyone to a July 4 potluck, and distributed copies of the 2009 Las <br />Flores Community Garden Annual Report. She thanked the Board for its support and <br />highlighted 2009 accomplishments, including membership, site improvements, education and <br />community outreach, success of organic gardening, and member activities, including <br />
