CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIAL MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 18, 2010 <br />5:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 5:08 P.M. and Short led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, Lange, Short <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda, and <br />Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />David Mullinax, Regional Public Affairs Manager, League of California Cities <br />Sacramento Budget Status Update <br />Mullinax provided a status update of the Sacramento budget process and its impact on local <br />govemment. He spoke in support of proposed Proposition 1A, and said it would provide a <br />much needed firewall between state and local government funds. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Cathy Carlson, Thousand Oaks, distributed documentation and spoke regarding concerns <br />about the Thousand Oaks City Center Conejo Valley United School District Preschool. <br />5. STUDY SESSION — STRATEGIC PLAN REVIEW, DISCUSSION AND SETTING OF 2010 <br />— 2014 STRATEGIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br />Friedl stated that the study session is intended to be an opportunity for Board members to: <br />review the District's Mission and Vision Statements and the Statement of District Philosophy; <br />review the progress toward meeting the goals currently established; and update the strategic <br />elements and goals to reflect the District's priorities for the future. <br />Friedl provided an overview of some of the challenges and opportunities facing the District, <br />noting in -process, ongoing and pending goals relative to programs, facilities, finances, <br />partnerships, organization, administration, and public relations/marketing. <br />Board discussion and input included general areas for further consideration. <br />
