July 18, 2013 Page 4 Hare referenced the Conejo Greek North Shade Sail Project renderings given to the Board this evening. Hare has met with Recreation staff and consultants re: different options available. This project will go out to bid in 3-4 weeks so that construction can start in January 2014. Construction is expected to take 2-3 months with completion scheduled for mid-March. The annual photo contest package has been distributed — judging sheets with instructions are included; please return no later than September 5 h Board meeting. Solar carports are in their second review for building permits at the four locations; still planning on two beginning construction at the end of August and the other two at the end of September with completion scheduled for the end of this calendar ear. The grand opening of the AYSO Snack Shack will be held on Saturday Sept. 71 ; this is also the date for the annual Day of the Horse. B. Recreation Division Report Lindsey referenced Recreation Highlights. There will be a summer concert in the Park this Sunday. Fall registration begins Friday, August 23rd. The opening of registrations is being moved from Monday mornings to Friday mornings, giving patrons time to register over the weekend. The T.O. Teen Center Gym was featured on the television program "Extreme Weight Loss." C. Management Services Division Report Lewanda stated the District has received the annual property and liability insurance bill; there was a 7% increase. The District earned the entire 15% (maximum allowed) safety credit. D. General Manager's Report Friedl referenced the Simi and Ojai fireworks incidents. Investigations are being conducted; no recommendations regarding the District's fireworks show will be made until after final reports are issued. Ride -On Therapeutic Horsemanship is gearing up for a significant capital campaign. The Speaker's Bureau sign-up sheet is rotating amongst the Board members this evening — Board members are asked to please sign up. A draft Board meeting calendar for 2014 has been distributed. There is need for a closed session this evening with no report expected. E. Directors' Reports Lange will be recognized this Saturday by the Ventura County Amateur Radio Association for his support of their organization and his government relations. Jones, along with Friedl, met with a resident of EI Monte Street regarding concerns about field usage at Old Meadows Park.
