CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />March 14, 2013 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Holt called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. and Jones led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare, Lewanda, Lindsey and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Teen Center Mud Run <br />Lindsey introduced Jay Dodwell from the Thousand Oaks Teen Center. Dodwell described <br />the evolution of the Halloween Mud Run, which began three years ago. The first year had <br />500 participants; the last two years have had over 700 entrants. "Mud Crazy", a video of <br />highlights from the 2012 Run, was presented. Dodwell thanked Brenda Coleman for her <br />leadership. He also mentioned the new Thousand Oaks Teen Center Website was <br />launched today. Board members thanked Dodwell for the informative presentation. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Polly Vlasic, Thousand Oaks, supports inclusion of an informational kiosk at the site of the <br />former Wildwood Fort. <br />Written statement cards regarding the former Wildwood Fort were also submitted by Jeanie <br />Streltzhoff and Vince Vlasic. <br />Mel Silberburg, Thousand Oaks, spoke as an advocate for senior citizens in the Conejo <br />Valley. He urged the District to study the potential impact of an aging population on the <br />community. He supports the creation of a second senior center in Newbury Park. <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Gibson, and carried 5-0 to approve the agenda <br />as presented. <br />
