Holt, Director
Joe Gibson, Director
Ed Jones, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
Re: Assembly Bill 2444(E.Garcia); The California Water, Climate, and Coastal Protection
and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2016
Dear Assembly Member Irwin:
On behalf of the Conejo Recreation & Park District I write to advise you of our strong support for
Assembly Bill 2444 by Assembly Member Eduardo Garcia, the California Water, Climate, and
Coastal Protection and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2016, which if passed by the Legislature
and ultimately California's voters this November, will provide critically needed resources for a
variety of recreation and infrastructure projects for our District, as well for recreation and park
districts throughout California.
These additional funds would help the Conejo Recreation & Park District and the City of
Thousand Oaks (each agency has already set aside $2.5 million) to complete the long -planned
Sapwi Trails Community Park; rehabilitate aging infrastructure; and modify irrigation and
landscaping in parks throughout the community in order to preserve existing trees and replace
turf with drought tolerant landscaping while reducing overall demand for costly imported water.
For these reasons, coupled with the fact that the last park bond the Legislature placed on a
statewide ballot, Proposition 40, was over 14 years ago, the Conejo Recreation & Park District
most respectfully urges your favorable consideration when Assembly Bill 2444 is presented on
the Assembly Floor.
Sincer I
Chuck Huffer,hair
cc: The Honorable Eduardo Garcia
California State Assembly
State Capitol, Room 4162
Sacramento, California 95608
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive • Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 • Email: parks@crpd.org • Website: www.orpd.org
