CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />June 2, 2016 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Huffer called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and Jones led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare and Lewanda, and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Conejo Open Space Trails Education Days Writing Contest Winners — <br />Elayne Haggan <br />Elias Chin — Acacia Elementary <br />Maegan Farrell — Wildwood Elementary <br />Amelia Furman — Wildwood Elementary <br />Jai Garg — Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Calvin Kissell — Westlake Elementary <br />Haggan acknowledged all of the winners and their teachers; Friedl presented each student with a <br />gift on behalf of the District. The contest is in its 25P year; this is the first year 41" grade students, <br />instead of 5th grade students, have participated. Board members offered their congratulations to <br />the students and their families and acknowledged Haggan for her ongoing dedication to <br />COSTAL. <br />Conejo Community Center — Family Campout <br />Lori Olbdch, Recreation Supervisor and Avery Akers, Recreation Coordinator, Conejo Community <br />Center, presented an overview and history of the Family Campout Program. It was started twelve <br />years ago and has been a "sell out" each time. Two are held per year, one in the spring and one <br />in the summer, with 120 participants per session. Akers offered a PowerPoint presentation <br />consisting of pictures from past campouts. The Board members thanked Olbrich and Akers for <br />their informative presentation. <br />
