Conejo Recreation & Park District
GENERAL MANAGER
Jim Fried!
DATE: March 3, 2016
TO: Board of Directors
FROM: Jim Friedl, General Manager
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Chuck Huffer, Chair
George M. Lange, Vice Chair
Susan L. Holt, Director
Joe Gibson, Director
Ed Jones, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
SUBJECT: Amendment #3 to contract with RRM Design Group in the amount of $73,500
for Phase 4a of Environmental and Design Services for Sapwi Trails
Community Park
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize General Manager to enter into Amendment #3 to contract with RRM Design Group in
the amount of $73,500 and a contingency amount of $6,500 for Phase 4a of Environmental and
Design Services for Sapwi Trails Community Park.
DISCUSSION
Over the last several years, the District has made progress in the development of Sapwi Trails
Community Park. In December 2014, the Board approved resolutions adopting the environmental
analysis and approving the project (reference item 9A of the Board agenda at
http.//www.crt)d.ora/directors/agendas/2014/december 4 2014.asD); additionally, the District
entered into Amendment #1 to the contract with RRM Design Group (RRM) to continue design
development of the project. Most recently, the Board approved Amendment #2 to the contract in
the amount of $189,900 for on-site construction documents.
Staff and RRM have had several meetings with City of Thousand Oaks staff, and in order to
continue moving the project forward, staff recommends entering into Amendment #3 to the
contract with RRM for off-site construction documents. The off-site construction documents will
include a new sidewalk on the eastern edge of the park/west side of Westlake Blvd, a signalized
intersection at Westlake/Rainfield, including a left turn pocket, and a signalized intersection at
Arboles/Kensington.
Along with the previously approved on-site construction documents, the off-site construction
documents will enable District staff, RRM and City staff to develop a package suitable for
presentation to City of Thousand Oaks Planning Commission. Upon completion of the
construction documents phase, staff will return to the Board requesting authorization to bid the
project.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive • Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 • Email; parks@crpd.org - Website: www.crpd.org
