April 16, 2015 <br />Page 4 <br />Chamber of Commerce's "Leadership Conejo" class; activities will include a bus tour of <br />the District. This morning, Friedl attended the Water Symposium in Oxnard hosted by <br />the AWAVC; it was a great event. Discussion with the City has commenced regarding <br />Sapwi Trails Community Park; it is possible the City may include $2.5 million in their <br />capital budget for this project, which would allow for the majority of the park to be <br />developed over the next two years. Sapwi Trails will be an extremely water -wise park <br />with unique amenities. Gibson noted this park will allow for many opportunities to <br />educate patrons on the District's efforts to conserve water. Friedl also met with a Public <br />Outreach representative from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; grant <br />funds are available for water conservation efforts. Connie Almond, the District's labor <br />attorney, is focusing her energy in the San Diego office of Liebert Cassidy; Friedl will be <br />moving forward with the selection of Almond's replacement. <br />E. Follow -Up Reports on MeetingslConferences Attended <br />Huffer and Lange attended the VCSDA Dinner Meeting at Port Hueneme last Tuesday <br />evening. <br />On Friday, April 3`d, Lange spoke at the rededication of the Marvin Braude Mulholland <br />Gateway Park Overlook. Last Saturday, he attended the dedication of the Coastal Slope Trail named <br />in honor of Zev Yaroslaysky <br />and the Cameron Nature Preserve in Puerco Canyon. <br />12.
