CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />June 19, 2014 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and Friedl led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare, Lewanda and <br />Lindsey and Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Conejo Valley Unified School District — Dr. Jeffrey Baarstad <br />Peggy Buckles, President of CVUSD Board of Education, introduced Dr. Jeffrey <br />Baarstad, Superintendent of Schools. He gave a brief overview of the $197 million <br />school bond issue that will be on the local ballot this November, including the <br />history of its formation and the project budget summary. He included a comparison <br />study of the 2013-14 tax rates and final maturities for the CVUSD and surrounding <br />school districts. Baarstad answered Board member's questions and was thanked <br />for his informative presentation. <br />Borchard Community Center — Food Share <br />Kurt Gunning, Recreation Supervisor, and Patty Ricketts, Recreation Coordinator, <br />Borchard Community Center, highlighted details of the Food Share program and <br />presented a slide show of the program in action. An average of 250 families are <br />served every other week. Gunning answered Board member's questions and was <br />thanked for the presentation. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Clint Matkovich, Thousand Oaks, expressed concern at the amount of food <br />discarded at local public schools and questioned whether the District has a <br />
