CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />June 5, 2014 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Gibson called the meeting to order 7:30 pm and Lewanda led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare, Lewanda and <br />Lindsey and Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />COSTAC Trails Education Days Contest Winners - Elayne Haggan <br />Julia Osborne, Board Member and Nast President of Gonejo Open Space <br />Foundation, filled in for Elayne Haggan, who was unable to attend. Osborne gave <br />great credit to Haggan, who was instrumental in the formulation of "Trail Education <br />Days" 23 years ago — all schools in the Conejo Valley School District currently <br />participate; a total of 1350 students took part this year. There were 50 volunteer <br />hike leaders, and 40 other volunteers helping in a variety of ways. 775 letters were <br />received, of which the following five were awarded a Grand Prize: <br />Brooke Holloway, Lange Ranch Elementary <br />Jessica Caterson, Lang Ranch Elementary <br />Noah Lunn, Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Kapono Dacascos, Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Brittany Nial, Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Each student was presented with a gift and commended by the Board members; <br />the students thanked their families, friends and teachers for their ongoing support. <br />4.
