Recreation Division Highlights Page 2 of 3 Revised 09.2024

McCrea Ranch
Open House
On Saturday, September 21, McCrea Ranch held an Open House. This event was free to attend, with a $5.00 donation encouraged. Visitors toured the Visitor Center, Bunk House, Milk House, and Shop Area. We had 50 people in attendance. One couple flew from St. Louis just to attend! They saw it advertised on our web site and made the trip just to see the ranch.
Hillcrest Center for the Arts
Upcoming Shows
The fall Hillcrest Players show You’ve Goat To Be Kidding Me will be premiering in the theatre for four shows only; 2 on October 12 and 2 on October 19 at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm respectively. This year’s script is written by the director and is a funny take on the fairy tale world featuring the three Billy Goats Gruff and many others. The cast of 22 range from 7-14 in age.
Elementary Music
The Elementary Music Program underwent some
major changes this summer to comply with new regulations and programming the school district is rolling
out as part of their visual and performing plan. We are happy to report that we are hosting chorus at 17
schools, band at 7 schools, and strings at 4 campuses. Part of the change to the program was moving all
programs to after school. HCFA is trying something new by having at least one central location in each
high school area to allow the families from all local schools a chance to sign up and time to the program. This also opened the door to allow homeschool and private schools to attend the programs. We are proud to be able to offer something new and start to increase the musical offerings for all older elementary children in our community.
Upcoming Events & Current Happenings
McCrea Ranch
Family Harvest Festival
On Saturday October 12 McCrea Ranch will be having a Family Harvest Festival. This annual event will be held from 10:00am-2:00pm. Children and parents will enjoy pumpkin painting, games, and crafts in addition to trick or treating at the Bunk House, Milk House and Shop Areas. We will also have a food
