Conejo Recreation Park District
CRPD
GENERAL MANAGER
Jim Friedl
DATE: May 16, 2024
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
George M. Lange, Chair
Doug Nickles, Vice -Chair
Chuck Huffer, Director
Nellie Cusworth, Director
Marissa Buss, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
TO: Board of Directors
FROM: Jim Friedl, General Manag
SUBJECT: Resolution No. 051624-B Requesting Consolidation of CRPD Election with
November 5, 2024 General Election
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution 051624-B requesting consolidation of the Conejo Recreation & Park District
election with statewide general election.
DISCUSSION
The regular District election for the purpose of electing two members to the Board of Directors is
scheduled for November 5, 2024. This is the first election since the Board of Directors voted on
January 19, 2023 to conduct its election "by -division", rather than "at -large." The Board adopted
a map with 5 divisions (map attached hereto) and determined that Directors shall be elected in
Division 1 and 5 during the General Election in November 2024.
In order to consolidate the election on that date, it is necessary that the CRPD Board adopt a
resolution ordering consolidation to be filed with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
Further, pursuant to Section 13307 of the State of California Elections Code, the Board acted in
July of 1980 to establish limitations regarding candidates' statements. Specifically, that each
candidate would not be allowed to submit a statement consisting of more than 200 words, that
each candidate who chooses to submit a candidate statement would pay a pro -rated share of the
cost of printing, and that charges for handling of the statement and additional mailing of
candidates' materials would not be borne by the district. The attached notice to the County Clerk
is consistent with District policy.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
V 403 West Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
t. 805-495-6471 1 8 805-497-3199 1 [El parks@crpd.org I ® www.crpd.org
