Recreation & Community Services <br />Recreation Division Highlights Page 1 of 3 Revised 02.2024 <br />Recreation Division Highlights <br />Thursday, February 8, 2024 <br />Past Events <br />Therapuetic Recreation <br />Adult Social and Friends <br />This session, our Adult Social and Friends program will be traveling around the World! Participants started off the session indulging in the culture of France, learning French words, having a history lesson, creating art surrounding some of France’s most iconic places, and took to La Princiere French Bakery to enjoy a treat! They even practiced saying, “bonjour” at the bakery. <br />Special Olympics <br />Special Olympic sports are back, and practices are up and running. We have over 40 local athletes practicing and honing in their skillsets in basketball, swimming, and athletics <br />Tot Classes <br />Our Old Meadows tot classes are back and in full swing. In Messy art, children celebrated the Chinese New Year creating dragons and getting a special cultural treat. In Young Chefs, children are cooking up a storm. This past week they made scrambled eggs to create a breakfast sandwich and crepes! <br /> <br />Conejo Community Center <br />Special Visitors <br />Twenty-four Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten students had special visits from the Park Rangers and Ventura County Sheriffs. On January 25 & 26 students were able to explore Sheriff vehicles, learn about law enforcement, and ask questions about what it takes to be a Sheriff in the area. On February 1 the Park Rangers hosted a very engaging and educational Outdoor Unit presentation, that was interactive and fun for the students to enjoy. <br /> <br />
