Minutes 5-22-02 <br />Page 3 <br />It was moved by Westland, seconded by Giovenco, and carred, with <br />two abstentions, to accept the nominees for Commission officers for <br />the year 2002-2003 as presented by the Nominating Committee: <br />President, Alberta Fiorita; Vice President, Charlie Courant; Treasurer, <br />Marie Boscia; Corresponding Secretary, Helen Milligan; and Recording <br />Secretary, Jane Zimmerman. <br />B. Consideration Of Newsletter Options <br />Schrock stated that staff has researched the cost of changing the newsletter <br />format, and discussed the proposed new format. He summarized that the <br />new format will include 11 x 17 inch paper folded in half and stapled with a <br />finished size of 8 i/ inch x 11 inch, it will eliminate marginal information, have <br />more eye appeal, always be printed on white paper, allow the newsletter to <br />flow more freely, and the quantity to be printed will be 2,900. He passed <br />around sample copies, and identified the City of Thousand Oaks as the <br />lowest bidder with a price of $801.00 per month versus the present printing <br />cost of $912.38 per month, and he said that the Commission will fund half the <br />cost. <br />Commission consensus was positive. Koss suggested that eliminating the <br />staples would further lower the cost, but staff indicated that the savings would <br />be minimal. In response to her inquiry, Schrock said that Kinkos' prices are <br />usually higher. <br />It was moved by Hogg, seconded by Westland, and carried to authorize <br />staff to change the format of the center newsletter and to have the <br />newsletter printed by the City of Thousand Oaks at a cost of $801 per <br />month; the Commission to be responsible for one half the cost. <br />5. OFFICER AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />A. President <br />Fiorita reported that she attended several meetings, and especially enjoyed <br />the RSVP Recognition Luncheon and the Senior Festival. She commended <br />Ross for her leadership role in the Senior Festival, and Zimmerman and <br />Westland for their work in the kitchen. Commissioners concurred, and noted <br />the large number of door prizes secured by Ross. <br />
