CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br /> <br />Cusworth called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and Ruwhiu led the flag salute. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Holt, Huffer, Lange and Nickles <br /> <br />Directors Absent: <br /> <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare and Smith, and Executive <br />Assistant Reynders <br /> <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br /> Aquatics Department – Safe Passage, Reservation Lap System <br /> <br /> Pearson, Aquatics Supervisor, gave an overview of the Safe Passge Swim Program, established <br />this past year. When this program started, 87% of children in the Safe Passage Program could not <br />swim. Pearson shared how CRPD is helping the underserved in the Conejo Valley. Working closely <br />with Tim Hagel, the Learn to Swim program was launched to offer free swim lessons to under <br />resourced youth in the community with a starting budget of $27,000. A pilot program was held in <br />the spring; 84 people showed up on the first evaluation day. The program was held again in the <br />summer and fall. By the end of fall 2022, over 130 youth have been provided free swim lessons. <br />Pearson shared program videos and pictures; plans are underway to continue this program through <br />spring of 2023. <br /> <br />Pearson introduced Volgenau, Pool Operator/Manager, who reviewed the lap swim reservation <br />system. The system allows patrons to choose, online, a swim facility, day, lane and time. 130- <br />150 people access the system each day. He shared revenue figures from the last few years and <br />some daily online reservation statistics. Although some other local agencies have discontinued this <br />system, the Aquatics Department has determined that the majority of CRPD patrons are happy with <br />this system, so there are no plans to make any changes. Director’s questions were answered and <br />Pearson and Volgenau were thanked for their informative presentation. <br /> <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Carol Nierman expressed concerns over how her issues with the Busy Bees at the Goebel Adult <br />Community Center were handled. <br /> <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Nickles, and carried 5-0 to approve the agenda as presented <br /> <br />6. CONSENT CALENDAR
