CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />December 2, 2021 <br />6:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />M I N U T E S <br />Nickles called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm and Barwick led the flag salute. <br />R0_LL CALL <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Huffer, Lange, Nickles <br />Directors Absent: Holt <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare, and Smith, and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />(Holt arrived 6:03 pm) <br />Conejo Community Center and Outdoor Unit — "Fall Festivities" <br />Sommer Barwick, Recreation Supervisor, made a presentation that included descriptions of activities <br />held at the Conejo Community Center, such as "Family, Hocus-Pocus, and Potions," <br />"Daddy/Daughter Princess Ball" and events held off-site, including multiple sold -out events at <br />McCrea Ranch and after-school programs held at local school campuses, including the "850 <br />Warwick Program". Avery Akers, Recreation Coordinator, shared his excitement over some new <br />programs starting up, including park field trips, which will bring 3rd grade students out to parks <br />adjacent to their schools. Upcoming events include the "Jingle Bell Hike," "McCrea Ranch Open <br />House," "Safe Passage Holiday Party," and "Holiday Movies in the Park." Next March, there will be <br />an "Unplug" event encouraging patrons to "get up, get active, and find their outlet" through a variety <br />of activities. Akers and Barwick answered Board member's questions and were thanked for their <br />presentation. <br />Equestrian Trails Inc. (ETI) #37 <br />Sharyn Henry, President of ETI #37, thanked the Board for providing such an amazing facility at <br />Conejo Creek Equestrian Park. Her PowerPoint presentation included information on the formation <br />of ETI, ETI's purpose, which is to protect the equestrian nature of Southern California, and ETI's <br />goals for 2021 (she noted 2020 was very quiet due to the pandemic). Events grow the membership. <br />Horse shows and Gymkhanas brought in over $35K this year; the arena is also used for mounted <br />patrol training, helicopter training, camps, and lessons. At the Gymkhana held on September 1111, <br />Barbara Kloster was celebrated, and a plaque honoring her was unveiled which will be mounted on <br />the registration booth. Henry answered Board members' questions and was thanked for her <br />presentation. <br />
