Conejo Recreation & Park District
GENERAL MANAGER BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jim Friedl Doug Nickles, Chair
Nellie Cusworth, Vice Chair
George M. Lange, Director
Susan L. Holt, Director
Chuck Huffer, Director
DATE: December 16, 2021
TO: Board of Directors
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
FROM: Jim Friedl, General Manager
SUBJECT: Officially name 14 -acre propoe- y located at 23 Fwy and Paige Lane — "Paige Lane
Neighborhood Park"
RECOMMENDATION
Officially name the 14 -acre vacant property now commonly referred to as Conejo Creek Southwest (aka
the "South-west Quadrant"): "Paige Lane Neighborhood Park"
BACKGROUND
The Park Facility Naming Committee met on August 10, 2021 and again on November 1, 2021 to discuss
possible names for the 14 -acre vacant property commonly referred to as Conejo Creek Southwest. The
property is bifurcated by Paige Lane and is located just west of the 23 Freeway. The property is currently
under construction and by Summer 2022 it should transform into CRPD's newest park.
Guidelines for Park Naming
The District's guidelines for naming parks indicate that any one or a combination of the following factors
may be utilized to designate the naming of a park site:
1. Historical reference
2. Identificatoin of Location (ie. neighborhood, school, area, street, subdivision)
3. Citizen input
4. Honor of donor, individual or family
5. Significant feature
6. Stipulation with deed
Since the District already has a Conejo Creek Park North, Conejo Creek Park South and Conejo Creek
Park West, the committee felt that the name should distinguish this new park from the other nearby "Conejo
Creek" park names.
After input from the community and after considering various names, the Park Facility Naming Committee
and staff recommend the official name of the new park to be: "Paige Lane Neiborhood Park."
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
805-495-6471 1 Fax: 805-497-3199 1 parks@crpd.org I www.crpd.org
