Recreation Division Highlights Page 2 of 6 Revised 09.2021
Aquatic Recreation
Celebrating Our Staff!
We wanted to recognize one of our newest hires from this past summer, Julie Martin. As a retired
educator and a regular lap swimmer, she had an urge to give back to the community as well as
continue to work with youth. She completed 28 hours of Lifeguard Training and 34 hours of
Water Safety Instructor training to become certified to work with us. Julie has excelled to
become one of the best instructors we currently have on-staff with all of her classes filling even
through the colder months. She is so dedicated that she plans to continue to teach through
December and January!
Sports & Reservations
Changes in Staffing
The Sports Unit recently said, “Congratulations, Goodbye, and Happy Trails” to Sports Specialist Rob Williams. Rob accepted the position of Community Services Coordinator for the City of
Agoura Hills. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Chris Brauer to the Sports Unit, who was promoted from Senior Recreation Leader to Sports Specialist. He previously worked for the Conejo
Community Center for the past seven years. His first three weeks have been busy, and already his contributions to the Sports Unit have been awesome.
Fall Programming
We are in full swing with Fall programs: classes, lessons, and leagues. Unfortunately, we did lose
half of our Adult Basketball teams as a result of the indoor mask orders.
Reservations
Parks are filling up with picnic, weddings, reunions, and more. Fall Field Allocation is back on-track; it is great to have our fields and courts full of kids and adults playing soccer, baseball,
softball, lacrosse, and rugby.
Monster Smash Pickleball Tournament
Local and visiting Pickleball players are gearing up for our first tournament in 18 months. The “Monster Smash” will take place on Saturday, October 9 and Saturday, October 30 at the Rancho
Conejo Playfield Pickleball Courts. We are looking forward to hosting the events!
