In a typical year, pre-pandemic, the District holds approximately 2,000 classes during the Summer
session. At 1,618 classes held this year, we are back to roughly 80% of our normal programming.
In the Summer 2020 Program Session, nearly one-fourth of classes offered ended up being cancelled due to low
enrollment or instructors electing to not teach out of concerns related to COVID-19. This year, however, only 11% of
the classes offered needed to be cancelled.
Wait lists were seen at all of the Day Camp programs hosted by the Outdoor Unit. For Borchard Community Center
(BOC), waitlists were primarily seen for Skateboarding classes, along with a few specialty classes such as Just Teacher
and Me, Kindermusik, and Fun in the Sun. At Dos Vientos Community Center (DVC), the Horseback Riding and Archery
Camps were in high demand and had limited availability. In Sports, the golf, pickleball, and tennis programs all had
wait lists. Specialty classes at Thousand Oaks Community Center (TOC) such as Cake Masters, Cupcake Creations, and
American Girl Fashion Design were only able to accommodate a set number of participants.
