Recreation & Community Services
Recreation Division Highlights Page 1 of 4 Revised 06.2021
Recreation Division Highlights
Thursday, June 10, 2021
Summer Concerts in the Park
Memorial Day Concert
On Monday, May 31, the Conejo Community Park hosted its first Concert in the Park since Labor Day, 2019. Following the current COVID-19 guidance, tickets were sold in advance and spectators
were assigned seating areas, allowing up to 4 people to view the concert from a painted 6’x10’ rectangle. The concert featured Garratt Wilkin and the Parrotheads, a tribute to Jimmy Buffett, and
was sold out with 212 viewing boxes sold. Attendees, many of whom arrived with Hawaiian shirts, parrot hats, and grass skirts, were happy to be back in the park listening to live music. Although
this concert was a bit more challenging than usual, both Parks and Recreation staff worked together to successfully execute the first large event outside of a car since the beginning of the
pandemic. The remaining four concerts will be free and open to the public without assigned seating or a capacity limit, starting with the July 4 concert featuring Angel City Dixieland Band!
See Page 4 for more photos from the Memorial Day Concert!
