October 1, 2020 <br />Page 2 <br />It was moved by Cusworth, seconded by Nickles, and carried 5-0 to approve <br />the Consent Calendar with the Minutes as amended, i.e., Page 1 of the Minutes, <br />under "Item 3", add "Chair Lange turned the Special Presentations portion of <br />the meeting over to Vice Chair Nickles..." <br />8. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />CRPD Update regarding COVID-19 <br />Friedl reported some good news; the state has authorized playgrounds to reopen. Tomorrow <br />all appropriate signage will be installed at CRPD playgrounds. Friedl shared with the Board <br />a sample of the sign to be posted. This sign includes verbiage including extra rules <br />promulgated by the state, including mask wearing by children and their caregivers, staying <br />with household groups, and distancing at least 6 feet from non -household members. It is <br />anticipated that Ventura County will be moving from purple to red, vis-a-vis the California <br />color coding COVID tracking system, next week. <br />9. NEW ITEMS <br />A. Annual Update to Conejo Recreation and Park District's Water <br />Conservation Plan <br />Hare reported on some changes/additions from previous years' reports and <br />provided updates on statistics. As temperatures rise and precipitation lessens, <br />conserving water is becoming more and more important. The District is committed <br />to continuing efforts toward this goal. The State is looking at long term sustainable <br />efforts to make water conservation a way of life. The District faces the challenge <br />of providing the community with usable turf as well as maintaining and practicing <br />water conservation. Hare provided a history of the District's efforts and reviewed <br />water usage and expenses over the years. Staff continues to educate the public <br />on conservation measures. He thanked the Board for their support. Former <br />Director Gibson was credited with his commitment to water conservation while <br />serving on the Board. Hare answered Board members' questions and was <br />thanked for his informative report. <br />It was moved by Huffer, seconded by Nickles, and carried 5-0 to review and <br />approve annual update report on the District's Water Conservation Plan. <br />Award Bid for Glenwood Neighborhood Park and Wildwood Neighborhood <br />Park Playground Improvement Projects and Peppertree • Playground <br />and Fitness Equipment Improvement Project in the amount of $1,093,260 <br />base bid plus contingency of $89,920 totaling 1,183,180 <br />Hare reported this bid includes three projects and all should be determined to be <br />categorically -exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA.)
