PARKS AND RECREA T DOGS F A,, CL� T `'f <br />DEFINITIONS AND PLACEMENT STANDARDS <br />Strikethrough version: <br />Aleighborhood Parks generally serve residents who live in close proxomity of the park, <br />usually within one mile. These marks typically provide both passive and active <br />recreational opportunities such as playgrounds, multi-purpose open turf areas, <br />basketball and volleyball courts, picnic tables and/or picnic shelters, and uutdour <br />fitness areas and recreational walking paths and trails of any type of surface. In some <br />instances, sports fields and srnall parking areas are included. Use of the park is guided <br />by the park's carrying capacity and type of activity being conducted at each park. A <br />typical size of.to 10 acres is considered appropriate and serving a population up <br />to 4,000 persons, however, neighborhood parks have and may exceed 10 acres in size. <br />District -wide parks generally serve residents of the entire district. These ®arks offer a <br />wide variety of recreation opportunities. They typically include unique features such as <br />wooded areas, varied topography and water features, and/or special facilities such as <br />a dog -mark, equestrian facility, community garden, or lighted sports fields. District - <br />wide parks generally contain more developed amenities than those found at a regional <br />park however they may include boating, swimmi ng, hiking and riding trails, outdoor <br />t tness. areas and_ recreational walkinns and trails of a� tyke of surface camp <br />facilities and/or a mature center. District -wide parks are typically between 50 and 250 <br />acres in size, however, distrim-wide parks may be less than 50 acres or exceed 250 <br />acres in size. Due to the abundance and breadth of amenities offered they frequently <br />draw patronage from well beyond the district boundary to approximately 30 riles. <br />Regional parks generally serve the entire region., These parks may include unique <br />natural areas and specialized recreational facilities such as campgrounds, wilderness <br />areas, nature study, outdoor education, hiking trails, outdoor fitness areas and <br />recreational walking baths and trails of any type of surface equestrian facilities, and <br />museums. The size and location of regional parks will vary, but no less than 250 acres <br />is recommended, however, regional parks may be less than 250 acres in size. Since <br />these parks are intended to serve the entire region, they do not have a service radius. <br />
