Holt, Director <br />Chuck Huffer, Director <br />Nellie Cusworth, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />Tex Ward <br />DATE: May 7, 2020 <br />TO: Board of Directors <br />FROM: Jim Friedl, General Manag <br />SUBJECT: Nomination of Conejo on and Park District (CRPD) Director Doug <br />Nickles to the Board of Directors of the California Association of Recreation <br />and Park Districts (CARPD) <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve Resolution 050720-B nominating Director Nickles to CARPD Board of Directors. <br />BACKGROUND <br />CARPD has put out a call for nominations to its member Districts to consider nominating one of <br />their qualifying officials to stand for election to the CARPD Board of Directors. Director Nickles <br />has expressed interest in serving on the CARPD Board of Directors. <br />CARPD, is a 501(c)(6), not-for-profit organization representing special recreation and park <br />districts throughout California. <br />CARPD has been dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency of recreation and park districts. <br />Through two joint powers authorities, CARPD members are eligible for reduced rates on Workers' <br />Compensation Coverage and Liability/Property Damage Insurance; saving local communities <br />thousands of dollars. <br />The CARPD Board of Directors is made up of representatives from CARPD recreation and park <br />districts and tracks legislation and other issues that affect member districts <br />Involvement in CARPD is accomplished through the active participation of agency board and staff <br />members.
