Holt, Director <br />Chuck Huffer, Director <br />DATE: <br />April 2, 2020 <br />Nellie Cusworth, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />TO: <br />Board of Directors <br />Tex Ward <br />FROM: <br />Jim Friedl, General Manag <br />SUBJECT: <br />Emergency Care and Shelter Services Memorandum <br />of Understanding Among City of <br />Thousand Oaks, Conejo Recreation and Park District, <br />California Lutheran University, and <br />American Red Cross of Ventura County <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the Emergency Care and Shelter Services Memorandum of Understanding Among City of Thousand Oaks, <br />Conejo Recreation and Park District, California Lutheran University, and American Red Cross of Ventura County. <br />DISCUSSION <br />After the November 2018 tragedies of the Borderline shooting and Woolsey Fires the City of Thousand Oaks, The <br />American Red Cross and Conejo Recreation and Park District have been working on an emergency care and shelter <br />services memorandum of understanding. <br />It had become clear after the 2018 event that we needed to come together on an agreement of what each of our <br />responsibilities are in an emergency. Also, in order for there to be possible reimbursement for future disasters the <br />District needed to have an MOU in place. <br />The City of Thousand Oaks took the lead on this while working with Conejo Recreation and Park District, the American <br />Red Cross and California Lutheran University. All parties reviewed multiple drafts and the final document is attached <br />for approval. <br />Through this process there has been a new and better understanding of what each entity has to offer to the <br />community and to each other in the case of an emergency. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN COMPLIANCE <br />4.0 Our objective is to collaborate with other entities in order to fulfill the District's mission.
