Holt, Director <br />Nellie Cusworth, Director <br />Doug Nickles, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />Tex Ward <br />From: Jim Friedl, General Manag <br />Subject: Annual Update to Con o Rec Ion and Park District's Water Conservation <br />Plan <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Review and approve annual update report on the District's Water Conservation Plan. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In response to the Governor's April 2015 Executive Order B-29-15 regarding California's severe <br />drought, the District made additional significant water conservation efforts: <br />• 100% of approximately 10,000 irrigation heads are controlled by iCentral Irrigation Control <br />System, <br />• Added Irrigation Technician to field staff, <br />• Added (and continues to add) master flow valves at parks, <br />• Completed numerous watelwise Capital Projects totaling in excess of $4,500,000, <br />including, but not limited to: <br />o Conversion of 70 acres of non-essential turf to native/drought tolerant species and <br />non -turf ground cover, <br />o Irrigation conversions to reclaimed systems at North Ranch Neighborhood and <br />Triunfo Community Park, <br />o Irrigation upgrades at Thousand Oaks Community Park, <br />o Development and watelwise improvements at Banyan Neighborhood Park, <br />o Irrigation upgrades at main/maid's house at McCrea Ranch, <br />o Development of 124 -acre Sapwi Trails Community Park with no irrigated turf. <br />Since Fiscal Year 2017-2018, with the intent to continue annually, committed $300,000 to <br />turf conversion/irrigation projects. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES <br />403 West Hillcrest Drive • Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223 <br />(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 • Email: parks@crpd.org • Website: www.crpd.org <br />
