Conejo Recreation & Park District
GENERAL MANAGER
Jim Friedl
DATE: March 7, 2019
TO: Board of Directors
FROM: Jim Friedl, General Mana
SUBJECT: Acquisition of Reservati ns are
RECOMMENDATION
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Susan L. Holt, Chair
Joe Gibson, Vice Chair
George M. Lange, Director
Ed Jones, Director
Chuck Huffer, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
Appropriate $70,000 in the fiscal year 2018-2019 equipment replacement reserve fund for
a custom reservation system.
2. Authorize General Manager to approve professional services agreement with Nine Planets
for the development of a reservations system software, at a cost of $63,000.
DISCUSSION
Current System — ActiveNet
The District has been using ActiveNet for facility reservations. ActiveNet is a hosted, independent
software platform provided by The Active Network. The system charges based on an annual fee
and a per transaction fee.
The District expends approximately $14,000 per year in fees and we have been informed that our
fees will be going up approximately 3% next year.
ActiveNet released a new system last year and it does not accommodate the number of facilities
CRPD has so we are currently using the old system, which ActiveNet is scheduled to turn off in
the next year. District employees have voiced numerous issues and concerns with the ActiveNet
system such as: the search engine cannot bring up all our fields at one time hindering our ability
to see availability of fields. This makes it very difficult and time consuming for our staff to schedule
field rentals. The ActiveNet customer service support center was also relocated making it difficult
to get accurate information and quick service.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive - Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 - Email: parks@crpd.org - Website: www.crpd.org
