November 16, 2000
Page 2
7. DEFERRED MATTERS
A. Authorization To Award Bid For Rehabilitation Of McCrea Estate Home
To Classic Roofing In Amount Of $239,804
Sorensen provided background information, and stated that on October 19
the Board rejected the bid from J. Evans in the amount of $278,000 for the
rehabilitation of the McCrea estate home; subsequently, the project was
rebid; Classic Roofing submitted the low bid of $239,804; staff believes the
bid is competitive, within the context of the specialty of historic structures and
a booming construction economy; although the site is in zone 3, park
dedication fees from a variety of zones will be used to fund the project, since
the site is a community facility; he stated staff recommendation and said it is
expected that the project will be completed prior to the rainy season.
In response to iLange's inquiry, Sorensen said that K. C. Industries of
Thousand Oaks is the subcontractor, and has considerable experience with
historic building construction.
It was moved by Holt and seconded by Jacobsen to award the bid for
rehabilitation of the McCrea estate home to Classic Roofing in the
amount of $239,804, funding to come from State grants in the amount of
$86,361, and Park Dedication Fee funds in the amount of $153,443.
In response to Jacobsen's inquiry, Sorensen said that, relative to the McCrea
site, the next area to be constructed will be the picnic and lake area,
eventually the historic compound on the lower ' level will be renovated,
members of the McCrea family and a caretaker live on the premises, and the
other out buildings are in fair condition.
The motion carried 5-0.
8. NEW ITEMS
A. Consideration Of Proposed 2001 Board Of Directors' Meeting Schedule
Jorgensen referenced the documentation and noted that March and May
schedules have been modified, and the August schedule is optional.
