CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />June 7, 2018 <br />7:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Holt called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and Hare led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Cailis, Hare and Lewanda and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Conejo Open Space Trails Education Days Writing Contest Winners <br />Elayne Haggan <br />Trenton Brooks — Cypress Elementary (Absent) <br />Derek Lai — Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Sylvie Rosseau — Banyan Elementary <br />Kelsey Jo Sullivan — Weathersfield Elementary <br />Myles Young — Sycamore Canyon Elementary <br />Haggan acknowledged all of the winners and their teachers; over 1,100 CVUSD 4t' grade <br />students participated in Trails Education Days this year. Haggan introduced Melanie Ashen, <br />who explained how the essays were judged —there were 809 submissions. Board members <br />congratulated the prize winners and their teachers, and the winners were recognized with a <br />gift from the District. <br />Borchard Community Center — Skate Park <br />Kurt Gunning, Recreation Supervisor, Borchard Community Center, reviewed the history <br />of the Borchard Skate Park and spoke about the wide array of programs and special <br />events held there. These programs and events were highlighted in a PowerPoint <br />presentation shown by Weston Montgomery, Recreation Special ist/Skate park. Board <br />members thanked Gunning and Montgomery for their informative presentation. <br />
