Lange, Director <br />Ed Jones, Director <br />Chuck Huffer, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />Tex Ward <br />TO: Board of Directors <br />FROM: Jim Friedl, General Manag <br />SUBJECT: Professional Services A t to provide comprehensive and specialized <br />services and information to assist District in complying with both federal and state <br />disabled accessibility requirements <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize General Manager to enter into a Professional Services Agreement with Gibbens and <br />Associates (GIBBENS) in the amount not to exceed $50,000 to provide comprehensive and <br />specialized services and information to assist District in complying with both federal and state <br />disabled accessibility requirements. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In October 2017, John McGovern of Recreational Accessibility Consultants (now W -T Group) <br />provided a Therapeutic Recreation Evaluation report to the Board which included his findings and <br />ten recommendations. <br />In May 2018, staff presented to the Board their responses to the October 2017 report's <br />recommendations. Specifically, recommendation #3 stated the District should conduct access <br />audit and develop a transition plan; staff responded that Parks and Planning is currently defining <br />and specifying a scope of work for a comprehensive accessibility audit with an outside consultant. <br />From this audit, staff will prepare a transition plan and incorporate potential projects into the <br />10 -year Capital Improvement Plan. Thus, staff is recommending entering into a Professional <br />Services Agreement with GIBBENS not to exceed $50,000 for services rendered for Fiscal Year <br />2018--2019. <br />GIBBENS will provide comprehensive and specialized services and information to assist District <br />in complying with both federal and state disabled accessibility requirements.
