Lange, Director <br />Ed Jones, Director <br />Chuck Huffer, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />Tex Ward <br />Mitigation Funds for Additional <br />Appropriate $284,000 of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Mitigation Funds <br />(currently in Capital Projects Fund) to Additional Bridge in Wildwood Regional Park Project <br />Account 62-804-811-80906-001 in Districtwide Assessment Fund. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) and City of Thousand Oaks Public <br />Works Department plan to construct a bridge across the Arroyo Conejo Creek southwest of Hill <br />Canyon Road in the Conejo Canyons Open Space Area. The purpose of the bridge is to provide <br />trail and vehicular access across the creek. Installation of the bridge will allow trail users to have <br />a defined route between Santa Rosa Equestrian Park and Wildwood Canyon. <br />The bridge is identified in COSCA's Conejo Management Plan as a high priority project for <br />improving public access and is a key component of the trail system in Conejo Canyons Open <br />Space. The bridge will connect existing trails on either side of the creek and is a key link between <br />the Conejo Canyons and Wildwood Park. <br />As part of the budget process, on June 15, 2017 the Board approved $370,000 from Wildwood <br />Flood Repair Fund to this project. The intent of the budget was to contribute funds to the City of <br />Thousand Oaks to design and manage the construction of the project. <br />District staff identified FEMA mitigation funding ($284,000) for this project. The funding is <br />restricted for the District's use to build, sustain, and improve the District's capability to prepare for, <br />protect against, and mitigate hazards.
