Holt, Vice Chair <br />Joe Gibson, Director <br />Ed Jones, Director <br />Chuck Huffer, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />Tex Ward <br />TO: Board of Directors <br />FROM: Jim Friedl, General Mana <br />SUBJECT: Conejo Recreation and trict's Water Conservation Plan <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Review and approve report on the District's Water Conservation Plan. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Since the passage of the Water Conservation Act of 2009 by California's legislature, the District <br />has been working to reduce its water consumption by 20% by the year 2020. <br />In response to the Governor's April 2015 Executive Order B-29-15 regarding California's severe <br />drought, more restrictive and different performance measures were utilized by the District. The <br />Governor's April 2015 Executive Order was lifted in April 2017. During this time period (April 2015 <br />— April 2017), the District made additional significant water conservation efforts: <br />• 100% of approximately 10,000 irrigation heads are controlled by !Central Irrigation Control <br />System, <br />Added Irrigation Technician to field staff, <br />Added (and continues to add) master flow valves at parks, <br />• Additional 40 acres (70 acres total to date) of non-essential turf converted to nativeldrought <br />tolerant species and non -turf ground cover, <br />• Converted irrigation systems at North Ranch Neighborhood and Triunfo Community Park <br />to reclaimed systems, <br />• In the current Fiscal Year, with the intent to continue annually, committed $300,000 to turf <br />conversion/irrigation projects. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES <br />403 West Hillcrest Drive • Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223 <br />(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 • Email: parks@crpd.org - Website: www.crpd.org <br />
